At ACE360, our parent organisation Skills Federation is committed to being the voice of employer-led sector skills bodies, advocating for the future of apprenticeships, upskilling, and workforce development in the UK. As we continue to navigate the evolving skills landscape, we’ve been actively involved in shaping policies and offering valuable insights to ensure the growth of apprenticeships and skills development across the UK.
Here’s a roundup of the latest updates, reports, and initiatives from Skills Federation, reflecting our ongoing efforts to improve the apprenticeship system and foster collaboration across industries.

1. ‘Skills for Success’ Report: Key Reforms for Apprenticeships
Skills Federation CEO Dr. Fiona Aldridge played a pivotal role in the Make UK Industrial Strategy Skills Commission’s “Skills for Success” report. This comprehensive document outlines key reforms to strengthen the UK’s apprenticeeship system and deliver essential upskilling opportunities for the existing workforce.
Fiona commented, “It has been a privilege to be a commissioner on this important project and to witness first-hand the excellent practice across the sector. The recommendations aim to support both future talent and existing workers in this key growth sector.”
We are proud to share this report as a crucial resource in advancing the UK’s skills agenda. Read the full report here.

2. The Rise in Apprenticeship Achievement Rates
We’re excited to see a positive shift in apprenticeship achievement rates in England, a trend that is welcomed by the 18 sector skills bodies that are members of Skills Federation. These bodies frequently highlight how valuable high-quality apprenticeships are for employers – both in recruiting new talent and upskilling their existing workforce.
This increase will help maximise the benefits of apprenticeships, not only for individuals but for employers and the economy as a whole. Alison Morris, Head of Policy at Skills Federation, shared insights into the latest government proposals and their potential impact on apprenticeships in her discussion with industry leaders Ann Watson (CEO of Enginuity) and Justine Fosh (CEO of Cogent Skills). 3. Addressing the Future of End Point Assessment (EPA)
As changes to End Point Assessment (EPA) emerge, Skills Federation is actively participating in discussions around streamlining assessments. While reducing duplication and introducing on-programme evaluation are positive steps, concerns remain regarding the independence and competency of the process.
Alison Morris recently shared her thoughts on how these changes might affect trust in the system and whether they go far enough to maintain the integrity of EPA. Read more here.

4. Engagement at the ATC Conference in Liverpool
We were thrilled to attend the ATC Conference 2025 in Liverpool, where Alison Morris, Head of Policy, discussed employer perspectives on the changes to apprenticeship policy. The discussion featured contributions from Rachel Roby (Cogent Skills) and Kim Hardman (AstraZeneca), focusing on the unique challenges within the life sciences sector.
Additionally, Dr. Fiona Aldridge was part of a panel discussing the Growth and Skills Levy, exploring the implications of recent government changes aimed at enhancing opportunities for young people. If you can’t attend in person.
